FRC closed five solvent USTs in place at a resin
manufacturer. A subsurface investigation
identified the presence of high concentrations of
several aromatic hydrocarbons in soil and
groundwater. FRC installed a network of
monitoring wells and used two existing wells to
delineate the extent of contamination. The site
characterization included analyses to demonstrate
that natural biodegradation of the contaminants
was taking place. FRC performed an air sparging
and soil vacuum extraction pilot test to collect
information needed to evaluate the feasibility of
these technologies and design the remedial action.
